Traders want one thing: freedom. Traders want to be free, free from time constraints, free from ridiculous bosses, free from doing unimportant things so that there is time for what is important. Many of my favorite people are traders. Do you know why? Because traders go after what is important. Traders want freedom and see trading as a way to achieve this freedom.
Traders are not greedy people. Traders do not make markets crash. Traders are simply going after freedom, and see trading as a vehicle to achieve freedom. Traders do not want to be time poor. Traders want to travel, spend time with loved ones and enjoy working from remote locations.
In the last post I explored some of the positive effects traders have on the markets. These things are often overlooked, as traders get painted as greedy people who take advantage of tough economic times (or, even worse, create hard economic times). But this is simply not true. Traders are interested in freedom. There will always be people who are happy to slog through life, doing what they “should” do, and there will also be people who go after what is important. Traders make up this latter group, and I am glad they are sprinkled around the world, keeping our financial markets in good working order.
